Otaru Glass Crafts
Otaru has a history of prosperity as a port town in Hokkaido, and is also known as a city of beautiful glass crafts. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, glass manufacturing techniques developed. Nowadays, Otaru glass crafts are famous nationwide. Otaru glass products are popular with many tourists and glass lovers for their delicate designs and high quality.
■Kitaichi Glass
This is Otaru’s leading glass shop. It has a history of over 100 years since its establishment. Thousands of glass products are displayed and sold in the store. There is also a cafe and a glass workshop. At the workshop, you can experience glassblowing. You can create your own original glass work.

Founded in 1900, this is the origin of Otaru Glass. It is the only company in Japan that still manufactures glass floats, which were once used for fishing. Nowadays, glass floats are used for interior decoration and are very popular as souvenirs from Otaru. You can also experience making glass floats and glass float candles.
