The hotel was built with a symbolic design to serve as a place to return to while sightseeing in Otaru. The hotel faces the harbor and canals, overlooking the trading town.
The exterior design is classic, yet still relevant to the present day, with the intention of blending in with the historical buildings remaining in the surrounding cityscape. The interior of the hotel also captures the ” romantic town of Otaru” sought by travelers with a modern sensibility, and expresses the scent of a port city of Otaru.
